On October 8th Keary and I will be leaving for Shanghai. I plan to update this blog each day. Please plan to come here each day to learn about our experiences while we are there. About two years ago we were a host family for a Lakeland College student from Shanghai while she was there for one semester. We struck up a friendship. Jia Zhen Li will be meeting us at the airport and helping us get to our hotel.
Saturday, 10/8/11 Delta
Flight 4211 by Pinnacle Airlines departs Milwaukee airport at noon, arriving
Detroit 2:21 pm. Delta flight 181 departs Detroit at 4:35 pm, arrives Shanghai at 7:10 pm
Sunday, 10/9/11
Staying at Salvo Hotel four nights and plan to celebrate Jane's 64th birthday October 12th at a nice restaurant with Jia Zhen's parents. We will go to Suzhou and do some watercolor paintings there. It is very scenic.
Thursday, 10/13/11 Air China Intl flight 985 departs Shanghai at 11:05 am, arrives Beijing 1:25 pm. Staying at Beijing Double Happiness Hotel three nights. Hotel telephone 86 (010) 6400 7762
We plan to book minivan trip to Great Wall and hike four to five hours to another section of the wall where the minivan will pick us up to take us back to Beijing.

then transfer to China Southern Air Flight CZ3487 departing at 3:05 pm, arriving Lijiang at 3:55 pm.

Friday, 10/21/11 flying from Lijiang to Shanghai. Staying at Salvo Hotel again for one night
Saturday, 10/22/11 flying Shanghai to Detroit , then transfer to Milwaukee airport
Delta flight 180 departs at 10 am, arriving Detroit at 11:45 am
then transfer to China Southern Air Flight CZ3487 departing at 3:05 pm, arriving Lijiang at 3:55 pm.
