Twas the Night Before

Tonight is the night before we leave.  We plan to drive to my daughter Naomi's home on Silver Spring Drive in Milwaukee and leave our car there for two weeks.  She will drop us off at the airport  at about 10 am and pick us up when we return on October 22.  The I-43  airport exit is closed, so we have to take an alternative route...Howard Avenue exit and then south on Howell Avenue to the airport.

Keary and I each have one small suitcase to check in and a backpack as a carry on.  I will print our boarding passes at the Delta Airlines kiosk. I hope we got accepted into the TSA Precheck program.

I read about the new TSA Precheck program in Wednesday's USA Today.  I called Delta Airlines on Thursday to ask that they submit personal information about Keary and me for this new program.  I think we got accepted into the program, but I will know for sure tomorrow when we pass through security.

Frequent fliers on Delta and American flights at Detroit, Atlanta, Dallas/Ft Worth, and Miami who are accepted into the Precheck Program are issued a bar code on their boarding passes that will be scanned by agents who check ID and then get routed to a secuity checkpoint lane where they will be allowed to keep their shoes, belt, and jacket on and leave their toiletry and laptop bags in the luggage.  However, TSA will continue to pull passengers for random screening.

I spent an hour at the Sprint store today.  Sprint mailed a replacement cell phone to my son Eli who lives in Brookfield.  I am on his family plan, so they would not mail it to me directly.  I drove there on Sunday to pick it up.  On Tuesday I went to the Sprint store in the strip mall near the southside Piggly Wiggly to have it activated.  I learned that the replacement cell phone could not be activated because it was still active and associated to the previous owner.  I spoke with the Sprint repair person on the telephone directly and he promised that it would be fixed in 24 hours.  So I returned the next day about 4 pm.  Well, it was still not  fixed yet.  After another half hour I was told to return the next d ay.  I waited some more and talked to the store manager.  He called the regional manager and got special permission to have a different replacement cell phone mailed to their Sprint store, but it would take 48 hours.  So that brings me back to today.  Carlos was able to activate the cell phone and transfer my contacts into the replacement phone.  The old phone was driving me crazy because I could only hear every other few words of conversations.  I have high hopes for this new phone.

I quickly downloaded and installed my favorite applications.....Trip Advisor, Fly Delta, Amex, Gas Buddy, Twitter, Tweet Caster, Blogger, Wifi Analyzer.Google Voice, BarCode Scanner, Lookout, Daily Bible, and Catholic One.  I plan to post photos from thecell  phone to this Blog.  I will be able to make phone calls through Google Voice for about 2 cents per minute.

The weather forecast for next week Monday is light  rain.  Wednesday and Thursday is scattered showers.  I am praying that the weatherman is wrong. Rain Rain Rain.  Go Away!

Well that is enough for now..11:12 pm...bedtime.
